J. Robert Grady, CPA – Vice President / Chief Financial Officer
Bob joined Vizient in 1984 and served as Chief Financial Officer for Vizient’s Southeast Division from January 1996 to July 1997 when he assumed his current position with Vizient Southeast. Prior to joining Vizient he was an audit manager in a national public accounting firm with client responsibilities principally in the healthcare and insurance industries.
Bob is responsible for the financial and operational activities of Vizient Southeast. In addition, Bob is responsible for the development and implementation of programs, services and business activities designed to improve the competitive position and performance of all Vizient Southeast member organizations. Bob is responsible for the coordination of membership services including the credentialing of new members as well as changes to existing member organizations. He participates in the recruitment and retention of member organizations, interfaces with national and regional staff regarding services and product offerings and participates in the development and implementation of individual plans for member organizations in an effort to support each member’s objectives. Bob is responsible for the regional office’s business development activities, supply programs and service offerings including coordination of Vizient’s supply offerings in its contract portfolio managed by Novation and activities focused on member finance and capital strategies. He has operational responsibility for Vizient Southeast’s Physician Support Program/ Professional Services and Non-Acute Care Program, Southeast Cost Management Partners, and insurance programs.
Bob earned his Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the University of South Florida, Tampa, Florida and is a Florida Certified Public Accountant. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants and Healthcare Financial Management Association.
George Mayzell, MD, MBA, FACHE – Vice President / Chief Clinical Officer
Dr. George Mayzell is the Chief Clinical Officer of Vizient Southeast. He recently left his own consulting company, Rx Health Partners, which specialized in population health, care management redesign, clinical variation and clinical integration.
He was the past Senior Vice President/Chief Medical Officer and Chief Clinical Integration Officer for AMITA Health, an integrated health system serving communities in western and northwestern suburban Chicago. AMITA Health is a Joint Operating Company formed in February 2015 by Adventist Midwest Health and Alexian Brothers Health System, encompassing nine hospitals and an extensive physician provider network of more than 3,000 physicians.
Dr. Mayzell joined Adventist Midwest Health in January 2013, after serving as CEO of Health Choice and Senior Vice President of Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare in Memphis, Tenn.
He previously served as senior medical director of managed care for University of Florida and Shands Hospital. He spent more than 10 years with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Florida, working as regional medical director for care and quality and corporate managing medical director for pharmacy and care. Additionally, he has more than 10 years of practice experience.
Dr. Mayzell is a board certified internist and geriatrician. He received his medical degree from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey and his MBA from Jacksonville University.
Dr. Mayzell has co-authored several books including “Leveraging Lean in Healthcare” and “Physician Alignment,” as well as a recent book on Population Health.
Joseph M. Regan, MBA, FACHE – Vice President, Performance Improvement
Joe joined the Vizient Southeast Performance Improvement team in 1996. He is currently the Vice President of Performance Improvement responsible for developing and directing programs and services designed to support and enhance Vizient Southeast members; clinical, operational, patient perception (HCAHPS), talent management and accreditation performance. Joe has over 20 years of experience developing and conducting large-scale, system-wide performance improvement programs and collaboratives. This work also involves identifying and delivering member specific advisory and consulting services to advance care delivery and new models of care. Joe’s team works with individual member organizations and system-wide committees on member specific initiatives to improve delivery system performance including cost, quality, patient perception and community health.
Prior to joining Vizient Southeast, Joe worked for Bayfront Medical Center, Inc. in performance improvement and finance from 1989 to 1996. At Bayfront, Joe served on and led a number of Performance Improvement teams, led the development of a Physician Profiling System and participated in the development of an Outpatient Clinical / Financial Database system.
Joe is a Fellow in the American College of Health Care Executive (FACHE) and earned his Bachelor of Science in Accounting from The Ohio State University and a Masters of Business Administration from Tampa College.
