Huntsville Hospital nursing led an education-focused approach to reducing hospital acquired PUs and DTIs in their high risk populations through implementation of new products, new policies and on-the-unit in-services. These efforts decreased the incident rate of hospital acquired PUs and DTIs to 0% on all patients included in a 45-day initial trial on the Cardiovascular units (CVOR and CVICU) and the Surgical Trauma ICU (STICU) and remain at 0% today· Continue reading (Portal login required)

Baptist Homestead Hospital – Pharmacy Leads Performance Improvement Project

The Baptist Homestead Hospital pharmacy collaborated with their IT department to utilize CPOE for timely pharmacy data collection. The data collection and analysis of pharmacy data by pharmacists led to a multitude of changes impacting turn-around-time (TAT), late medications and missing doses. Stat and routine TATs have been reduced from a historical 120 minutes for both orders to achieving 92% of stat orders completed within 15 minutes and 96% of routine orders validated within 60 minutes.· Continue reading (Portal login required)
