The Joint Commission (TJC) has created a standard with general guidelines, but little direction on how to build a process for collecting, tracking, reviewing, and addressing specialty-specific data on all active practitioners in a healthcare system. No big deal, right? It is a big deal, but it does not have to be a big mess of data and papers. Through countless hours of research and conversations, Halifax Health has overcome many of the obstacles of OPPE. They have created a structure and process that allows them accuracy, relevance, and flexibility that has both improved their OPPE efficiency and has been recognized by their onsite TJC survey team!
